(Another) Weekend Trip to Olmue

Rafaela and Shaw took another trip to Olmue, this time with Rafaela's father, Eduardo.

Looking at selections of wines from House that we might serve at the celebrations. Some selections include a Carmenere, a Souvignon Blanc, and a Gewurtztraminer.

Rafaela and Eduardo tasting some Quintay wines, a local winery in Casablanca.

Shaw, Maya, and Eduardo outside Tauss Brau, in Olmue, which will serve the beer.

Beautiful evening sky in Olmue.

The Quintay Grand Reserve Suvingnon Blanc is a wine finalist! Yummy stuff!

Shaw prepared some chancaca pancakes, together with manjar from Nonna Rosa, a local goat-cheese maker.

Shaw and Maya both enjoying the heated pool at Olmue Natura.

Shaw and Maya taking a little swim.

Maya's looking happy (and comically blonde!) with a Sessler Brau at the nearby Landgasthaus Schwartzwald. (We decided not to go with their beer, since the Tauss Brau was - in our consensus opinion - far more tasty.)

We decided to drive back to Santiago along the Camino a Cuesta de la Dormida, crossing through a high pass to the town of Til-Til. There were some really nice vistas where you could look back toward Olmue along the Camino a Cuesta de la Dormida.

Once we crossed through the pass, we were immediately greeted with this rather bullet-riddled sign welcoming us to the Comuna de Til-Til! (Where lots of historic songs about the Chilean Revolution take place; specifically where Manuel Rodriguez, a major Chilean revolutionary, was assassinated by the newly established Chilean government... for continuing to be a revolutionary and rabble-rouser after the end of the war.)
