Feliz Deiciocho!

Last Thursday was September 18th, which marks the celebration of the beginning of Chilean independence. So, we decided to walk to the Estadio Nacional (just a few blocks from our apartment) and partake in the Fiestas Patrias celebrations there.

Chilean flags flying next to the flags for the commune of Ñuñoa.

Play ring-toss to win some celebratory beverages. Only 500 CLP for 15 rings!

I don't think that this really is Shaw's mother's sushi...

Shaw eating some anticucho.

Children dancing in the cueca competition.

Maya watching some Chilean cowboys. She got a little scared when the crowds started cheering and applauding.

Watching the Chilean hussars (Regimiento de Caballería Blindada n. 3 "Húsares") perform..

LOTS of grills!

Rafa and Shaw having mote con huesillo.

The crowds were far greater when we were leaving, which was perfect for Maya, who was already sleeping after her first "dieciocho" celebration.
